Foreigners' Registration - Incoming Students

If you are coming to the Complutense University of Madrid as an Erasmus student, you need to complete a foreigners' registration procedure. The certificate must be obtained in person, but you can prepare everything online by:


Who Needs to Register?
 

You must register in the EU Citizen's Registry if:

  • You are a citizen of the EU (European Union), EEA (European Economic Area (Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein) or Switzerland
  •  Your stay in Spain is longer than 3 months (90 days)

Register within the first 3 months (90 days) of your arrival.


 

 

Why this certificate is important?
 
  • Identifies your officially in Spain: The certificate serves a an official document showing that you are registered as a resident in Spain
  • Confirms your legal residence: It proves that your stay in Spain is recognized by Spanish authorities., which is important for legal purposes.
  • Provides access to public services: With this certificate, you may access certain services, such as health care, banking ....
  • Needed for some official procedures

Documents typically required
 

Before your appointment, prepare and gather the following documents:

  • EX-18 Form.
  • Valid passpor or ID card and a copy.
  • Document proving your student status: Erasmus credential, UCM acceptance letter or enrolment at UCM.
  • Proof of payment for fee 790.                         

Language and Process
 

The foreigners' registration process is conducted entirely in Spanish.

  • All forms and the registration process are in Spanish. 
  • The University does not manage or submit your certificate.
